Statement Of Delegate Barbara Comstock on passing of former Delegate Vince Callahan
McLean, VA- Delegate Barbara Comstock (R-34) released the following statement Saturday on the death of former House Appropriations Committee Chairman and former 34th District Delegate for 40 years, Vincent F. Callahan, Jr.:
"Chip and I are saddened by the passing of Vince Callahan.
Vince Callahan embodied a true public servant and community leader. From January 1968 to January 2008, Vince served as a member of the House of Delegates representing the 34th district. Vince was a leader and devoted public servant involved in dozens of community and civic organizations including his role as President of the Kiwanis Club of McLean, Director of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Northern Virginia Community Foundation, Director of the Northern Virginia Community College Education Foundation, and founding Trustee of the McLean Citizen Foundation.
"He leaves behind a lasting legacy in the Commonwealth and certainly here in our local community. It was an honor to call him a friend, to work with him over the years and to have the privilege of his advice and guidance. My thoughts and prayers are with Vince's wife, Yvonne, their children, Vince, Elizabeth, Anita, Robert, Cynthia and other members of their family and friends now and in the days to come."
