McLean, VA - Delegate Barbara Comstock (34-VA) has officially launched the second year of her Young Women's Leadership Program, which provides young women enrolled in middle school and high school the opportunity to meet and interact with women in leadership positions in government, politics and business.
Through this program, young women will be able to learn about career opportunities in various fields, develop their leadership skills, identify their strengths and interests and practice effective communication with others to help realize their future educational and career goals.
This program is scheduled to begin this summer and will continue through the fall. There will be periodic activities that will provide a group of junior high students and high school students access to women leaders who will participate in educational and informative seminars and activities that introduce young women to a variety of careers in the public and private sectors.
Last year, program participants had the opportunity to meet women leaders affiliated with Facebook, NVTC, Meet The Press, The National Review, the Virginia House of Delegates, the Virginia Governor's Mansion, US House of Representatives, CNN and the White House.
"Young women today have all kinds of opportunities available to them. This program is designed to expose them to a wide range of careers and opportunities in our area," Delegate Comstock said. "It is my hope The Young Women's Leadership Program can inspire the next generation of female leaders to bring their intelligence, drive and solutions to careers in government, politics and business."
