October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Dear Friend,

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month and highlight several "Link To Pink" events throughout our area this October.

As you may know, the INOVA Breast Care Institute now offers free mammograms all year long for those without insurance. If you don't have a primary care doctor, INOVA will help refer you to one. If you don't have insurance, INOVA will work closely with various clinics across the area to get you what you need, including a free mammogram. Celebration of Life Brunch

Pink Ribbon Brunch

Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer

MORE INFORMATION: This group meets with a genetic counselor and oncology counselor to discuss topics of interest to women diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer as a result of BRCA genes.

Living with Breast Cancer: Education and Exercise
MORE INFORMATION: This is a six-week class series that features expert speakers presenting on a full range of topics and is coupled with an exercise class tailored to the needs of women who have had breast cancer surgery.

MORE INFORMATION: The kids events begin at 4:30 p.m.- tickets cost $10 per child. Adult activities begin at 6 p.m.- tickets cost $25 per adult in advance and $30 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the INOVA Breast Care Institute.

Breast Cancer Survivors' Retreat - New Beginnings

Saturday, October 26th from 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM
MORE INFORMATION: This free Breast Cancer Survivors' Retreat will take place on Saturday, October 26th at INOVA Loudoun Hospital. There will be an education session from 9:30 AM- 12:00 PM entitled, "New Horizons in Breast Care: Genetics, Genomics & Epigenetics." An Open House will follow from 12:00 PM- 3:00 PM.
