I have
heard many of your concerns regarding dangerous trees in our community that are
either dead or in decline. I share your concerns, and wanted to update you on
upcoming tree removal project scheduled in your neighborhood and direct you to a
press release from VDOT that was sent out on Tuesday, August 7th.
After a
detailed review of trees in the VDOT right of way, VDOT plans to remove a total
of 59 hazardous trees from the Great Falls area beginning on August 13th. The
project is expected to take about three weeks to complete. The trees that are
currently scheduled for removal are located on River Bend Road, Browns Mill Road
west of Difficult Run, Beach Mill Road, Georgetown Pike, Walker Road, and
Utterback Store Road.
VDOT plans
to begin this project by taking down two trees on 700 River Bend Rd and across
the street from 630 Walker Road. Then, they will continue removing the rest of
the trees on River Bend, before going to Browns Mill Road. The contractor plans
to work along the side roads before 9:00am; then proceed to Georgetown Pike and
work between the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm. Please be aware that some of the work
on this project will occur on Saturdays.
