Dear Friend,
It's
that time of year again! Back-to-school time is just around the corner and so is
the Virginia back-to-school sales tax holiday- August 3-5, 2012. Various school
supplies, clothing, footwear, and other school related items will be exempt from
Virginia's sales tax during these three days.
Items such
as notebooks, pens, binders, calculators, paints and crayons, will be
tax-free provided each item costs $20 or less. Most clothing items and footwear
will also be exempt from Virginia sales tax if they are priced at $100 or less.
There is no limit on the number of items you can purchase tax-free as long as
each item qualifies.
To view a full
list of the items that are included in the sales tax holiday, along with
guidelines and frequently asked questions for both consumers and retailers,

The sales tax
holiday is open to all and is not limited to people preparing to go back to
school. All Virginia retailers who sell the exempt products must participate.
During the sales tax holiday retailers may also choose, at their discretion, to
pay the sales tax themselves on items which are not exempt under the guidelines,
saving consumers even more during the sales tax holiday.

any questions about this or any other issue, please feel free to contact my
