Delegate
Comstock’s Statement on the
Death
of Osama Bin Laden
McLEAN, VIRGINIA – Delegate Barbara Comstock (VA-34)
issued the following statement regarding the news that terrorist leader Osama
Bin Laden has been killed:
Days after September 11, 2001, President Bush said, “Whether we bring our
enemies to justice or bring justice to our enemies, justice will be done.”
The
news of the demise of Osama Bin Laden is an incredible victory for the American
people. This victory in the War on Terror is a tribute to the thousands
of men and women of our armed forces and intelligence community who have fought
for a decade to bring justice to Bin Laden. I also want to congratulate
President Obama and President Bush for their leadership over the past decade
and the bipartisan commitment in Congress to stay the course in bringing Bin Laden
to justice. Having served as a senior Justice Department official
following September 11th, I also want to congratulate the thousands of
dedicated federal, state and local employees throughout our government whose
vigilance has kept us safe, as well as made this day possible.
We will always remember the horror of that day when we experienced the worst
attack on American soil. This is now some comfort to the many of us who
lost loved ones on September 11th that a measure of justice has been served.
We now must remain vigilant to continue to fight terrorists around the
globe. The threat continues and we must never let down our guard.
