"A" Rating From Virginia Chamber of Commerce

Delegate Comstock Awarded "A" Rating from Virginia Chamber of Commerce on
May 8, 2013.

McLean, VA - Delegate
Comstock (R-34) received an "A" Rating from the Virginia Chamber of Commerce on
their 2013 Legislative Report Card at the annual Chamber Legislative Awards
Dinner on Wednesday, May 8.
Speaking
about the award, Delegate Comstock said, "It's a privilege to work with
Virginia's business leaders at the Chamber and I'm proud to
receive another "A" rating from the Virginia Chamber
for championing policies that foster job growth, increase competition and
provide more jobs for the citizens of the Commonwealth."
"I
thank the Virginia Chamber of Commerce for working with us in the General
Assembly to promote and preserve free enterprise and for helping to make
Virginia the best state to do business. I look forward to
continuing to work with the Chamber to keep Virginia the top destination for
jobs."
For
the second year in a row, Delegate Comstock
received an "A" rating from the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Last year
she was also recognized by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce with "The Free
Enterprise Award" which honors a legislator who championed free market
principles during the 2012 legislative session.
This 2012 award
recognized Delegate Comstock's passage of HB 33, "The Fair and Open Competition
in Government Contracting Act." This bill guarantees
competition and a level playing field for all Virginia workers and businesses -
non-union and union alike. This legislation banned forced union project labor
agreements and protects the 96 percent of Virginia workers who are non-union,
and commits that Virginia workers and taxpayers will not be robbed through crony
contracting. This legislation was essential in helping get the costs for Rail to
Dulles under control and has recently been credited with helping bring the
winning bid for Phase II of Dulles Rail in at $300-$400 million less than had
been anticipated.
The
Virginia Chamber of Commerce is the state's largest business advocacy
organization with more than 13,000 members. As the voice for business, the
Chamber works in the legislative, regulatory and political arenas to act as a
catalyst for enhancing Virginia's economic competitiveness and pro-business
climate.
