Delegate Barbara Comstock To Participate In Telework Summit Hosted By Delegate Rich Anderson On Monday Available ONLINE and in Prince William

MCLEAN- Delegate Barbara Comstock (VA-34) will participate in the Commonwealth's first ever Northern Virginia Telework Summit hosted by Delegate Rich Anderson (VA-51) along with Delegate David Ramadan (VA-87) on Monday, November 19th. Sponsored by the Prince William Chamber of Commerce and its Telework Task Force, the summit will convene at 9:00 AM at the headquarters of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, at 9720 Capital Court, Suite 203, Manassas, VA.

Dels. Anderson, Comstock and Ramadan will be joined by several Northern Virginia leaders who are pioneering telework practices in the private sector. Delegate Comstock introduced Telework legislation to the General Assembly in 2011. HB 2197 grants employers a tax credit for expenses incurred in developing and implementing telework arrangement for employees. The bill is both a family-friendly work policy as well as a transportation congestion solution. It was supported by the Northern Virginia Technology Council, which has long been a leader in promoting telework policies as well as by the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Small Business Partnership.

TELEWORK SUMMIT AVAILABLE ONLINE

In the spirit of telework, the general public is invited to participate in the Summit via the Internet, rather than physically traveling to Chamber headquarters. By conducting the Summit via on-line resources and not in a central physical location, the event is intended to model best practices in the world of telework.

An effective telework infrastructure in the Northern Virginia area has the potential for helping this congested area of the Commonwealth to address some of its more challenging problems. Taking people off the roads by using telework will add considerable value to the state's transportation strategy and alleviate a measure of vehicle congestion.
