Dear Friends,

Thank you for re-electing Rep. Frank Wolf as our Congressman and all the hard work you did on Tuesday to contribute to this historic election.  It was great to see so many of you as I visited precincts on election day throughout the 34th District  and hear the enthusiasm you have for our Congressman.  A special thanks also to all the volunteers, precinct chairs and precinct workers, and our Dranesville and 10th District leadership. 

It is an honor to serve as your Delegate and I look forward to continuing to represent you and working with Frank Wolf on behalf of our community.

I also want to congratulate Congressman-elect Robert Hurt (and my campaign manager, Sean Harrison, who was Hurt's campaign manager, and my son, Peter, who also worked on the campaign); Congressman-elect Scott Rigell and Congressman-elect Morgan Griffith, who has been serving as our Majority Leader in the House of Delegates.  I look forward to working with them, along with Congressman Wolf, new Republican leader Rep. Eric Cantor and the rest of our Virginia delegation in the months and years ahead to help the Commonwealth.  I also commend Keith Fimian for running an aggressive and competitive campaign for which we still await the final results, as well as Patrick Murray and Chuck Smith.

Last year, the people of Virginia overwhelmingly elected Governor McDonnell and a strong working majority in the General Assembly.  In our first ten months in office, we essentially did the opposite of Washington's job killing agenda:  We made jobs our number one priority and kept our unemployment rates well under the national average.  We turned a $4.2 billion deficit to a surplus without raising taxes; reversed Governor Kaine's attempts to take $60 million from Fairfax Schools; and released $500 million in bonds for our roads and conducted an audit of VDOT that found over $1 Billion in unused transportation funds that now can be put to work on our roads.  

Knowing that our families and businesses were having to do more with less, we did the same with our state budget and cut spending to 2006 levels given our reduced revenues.  We brought common sense fiscal policies to Virginia and rejected the job killing policies of Washington.  Now this Virginia model can be brought to Washington by our strengthened Virginia congressional delegation.  In Virginia, in the General Assembly, working with our Governor, we will continue the focus on reviving our economy.    

I would also like to congratulate my friend, Rep. Eric Cantor, for his re-election and his leadership in electing a new majority and his expected new leadership role in Congress.  I know that this will be a great asset for the Commonwealth.  

Thank you again for all your help and what you do to make our community the best place to live, work, play, raise a family, start a business, or serve our country, state or local community.  Now we have hard work ahead of us as we work to make sure that we leave future generations with an even better Commonwealth and better America.
