Easter and Passover Greetings From The Comstock Family

Happy Easter and Passover from The Comstock Family

For those celebrating Easter this weekend, it is a joyous time when Christians come together to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.   For our family, Easter is always a family time but also a particularly special time because our son, Peter John, was born on Easter Sunday, April 7, 1985.  I was in law school at the time and it was our spring break! I went into labor on Good Friday and progressed off and on throughout the weekend until Peter’s birth late Easter evening -- a weekend of pain, prayers, birth, and new beginnings that coincided with Easter joy and our second bundle of joy who turned 24 this week!

For those observing Passover and for all those who believe in God’s liberating power in our lives, this is also a very special time of year.  The holy days of Passover, are the time when Jews around the world celebrate their deliverance from oppression and give thanks for God’s blessings.  This message of hope and freedom has been celebrated for over 3,000 years since God liberated Israel from bondage and led them to the Promised Land.

In this Easter and Passover time, we are particularly mindful of our blessings as a country. At a time when many in our communities, our neighborhoods and our country are facing challenging times and hardships, as a generous people, we are mindful of those less fortunate and how we can better use our own resources to provide help.  Our communities are blessed with many generous charities which need our help more than ever.  We are going to be starting a new section on our website “Neighbors in Need” to feature our local charities and how they can help our community.  We have featured SHARE, Inc. here first today (link here:  http://www.shareofmclean.org/ ) and will be adding this section soon along with other charities and would like to invite you to let us know about other charities in our community you would like to feature.

Finally, this is a time when we pray for peace throughout the world and we keep our brave men and women who wear our Nation's uniform and their families in our prayers and we are ever grateful for their sacrifice and service.

Happy Easter and Happy Passover,

The Comstock Family
